When you’re lucky enough to live so close to wine region royalty, aka Rutherglen, it’s easy to forget just how unique, iconic and impressive it really is, especially considering most Rutherglen vineyards remain small-scale and family-run. James & Co. Wines is one such Rutherglen winery. Known in particular for their adventurous range of Sangiovese, the husband and wife team of Ricky and Georgie James relish the opportunity to put their best up against benchmark traditional European wine styles, inviting you to do the same!
Ricky (winemaker) will guide you through a unique, personal experience to compare three old world wines to three new world James & Co. Sangiovese creations. Wines include a sparkling Rosè from Champagne, a dry provincial Rosè from Provence and a Brunello or Chianti from Tuscany to compare to the James & Co. Sangiovese, Sangiovese Rosé and sparkling Sangiovese Rosè.
Matched snacks included mixed olives, salami and artisan cheese, to draw out the hallmark flavours of the delicious Sangiovese variety.
